Midnight litter born 2008-12-12

Finally the last puppy leaves us. The last couple of days he have been a part of the "gang", and have really melted in as the most naturally thing in the world - it felt when he left.

He has arrived to his new family and works well together with dad and brother Otto.

2009-03-10 Pixel leaves home

The time has come for Pixel to move to his new family. It wasn't a long move (Stockholm), and next day we got the message that he had slept all night between his new mum and dad...

2009-03-10 12 weeks old

Two puppies remains and this is how they look at the age of twelve weeks. Soon it will be over with puppies in the house (feels both good and bad)

Now it was time for Ebba to leave home. She was picked up from our cabin by Iben and whippet brother Jochum.

Only four puppies is left (and tomorrow only three). It is easier to handle four than eight puppies. The have gain access to the hole house and surprisingly no catastrophe have happened.

The weekends sun felt good - at last it felt good to be out even if the temperature was below zero.

2009-01-18 Puppy visitors

During During the weekend the puppies had several visitors. First our Danish puppy buyers Colin and Marianne came by to see how their puppy was doing. Minutes after they had left, Povel and family came by. They were only here to get the puppy feeling (two whippets is enough). At the same time we had distinguished visitors. Grandma Elin with ant Mai and grandpa’s breeder Gun Welander came by. It’s always exciting to hear other pro’s view on our puppies. We think they liked what they saw, and grandma Elin decided to have a puppy, who can live along with daddy Briam. ..

2009-01-18 5 weeks old

After five weeks in the kitchen it’s time for the puppies to move to their own department (they need more space, and we need to get our sleep J). Now they mostly eat real food – if they want milk they will get it sitting (Sille is not laying in the puppy corner anymore). It is our youngest that has taken over – Tess is the most active in playing will the small ones (but she is still a little tuff).

Now there is plenty sign of life from the puppy corner. They bite and they bark so you get scared - it happens that some puppy cry out in pain when they bite to much. Even mummy Sille have started barking when they bite (unthankful as they are :-))

It won't take long till they need more room, so no later that next weekend they will move to their own puppy room and only be visitors in the kitchen during the day.  

They have started to eat real food as a supplement to the milk bar. All are walking and a tooth have been found in their mouths. And from now on we humans is responsible for the sanitary cleaning in the puppy corner :-|

All the puppies have now open their eyes. They don't see that much, but they look a little more "alive" :-)

A week has gone and our babies are growing a lot...everybody have passed half a kilo. Sille is a good mother and her milkbar is always open. She also loves to just lie with the small ones. The only one of the other grownups that is interested is Tess - but Sille does not allow her to "taker over" her puppies yet. We guess this will change when they reach the age of 4-5 weeks and starts biting :-)

After a nervous  24 hours, where Sille didn’t start producing milk everything is now back to normal. We got a chance to test the artificial milk and tools, and experienced some difficulties getting the puppies to use the robber nipples! But after that Sille has started supplying sufficient with milk and the puppies are constantly full and satisfied. They increase between 30 and 50 grams per day (which is on the same level as our prior litters).

To our surprise Sille has already started to leave the puppy basket and today she even followed along on a walk with the others.

Today she went along with the others on one of the daily walks - but the rest of the day was used for resting.

The weight is 17,2 kg (increase by 34%) and her waist has increased to 54 cm. (an increase by 35%). She doesn't think it is that exciting anymore and gives us humans a bad conscience :-)

Sille is good at finding places to rest that relieve the pressure from her increased size. Food is still interesting but she is no longer keen on talking the normal work with the other dogs.

The time has just been flying - only a week left of the pregnancy. Sille is very big, but is actually not bothered that much. She is not that keen on long workings but is otherwise in a good mode. She rests a lot but is still keen on eating (which is necessary to produce sufficient amount of milk for the many puppies).

Now it is exciting waiting for a week or so...

You could say we got a bit of a surprise on today's visit at the veterinary. On the X-ray we counted at least 9 puppies and probably 10. That's quit a litter :-)

From now on she is called "Silletunnan" (herring barrel) - she is round as a barrel and have gain a lot of weight. Furthermore we have felt life for the first time. On Thursday she is up for x-ray - then we know what's in the stomach.

After six weeks you clearly sees that the stomach has grown. In a week the diameter increased from 40 to 46 cm. She is still rather calm, but we think she have become a little happier - she might have understood what is coming :-).

The remaining time we will try to make as stress-free as possible.

Not so much have changed the last week. The stomach has grown a bit more and she is slightly more calm.

It is now a fact that Sille is pregnant - the question is now how many puppies she have in her (and the sex of the puppies). It's not the obvious in the picture, but we can see that the stomach has grown.

It is still to early to see any changes on the body, but her mood have changed. Normally she is "on" all the time, but during the last week she have become calmer and is often laying on her own... we hope it is a good sign.

A week have gone since the mating - nothing shows, but she is "love mood" (which our puppy Tess found out)

According to the blood test Sille is "in the mode" today and tomorrow. So in the beautiful autumn Briam came by. Having in mind that this was their debut in mating, it went very well. Briam is very gentle and hold back till we told him to - it must be wonderful puppies...

Sille has stared her season and if all goes according to plan, she will be mated around October 14'th. Puppies could the arrive mid December and be ready for moving to their new families mid February.

Briam is brindle. He's a cool and stable male both physical and in his mind. He likes to eat is clever and an easy learner with a distinct on/off button. Briam has two CAC's and only need one more to be Swedish champignon. He has blood track license. Briam is owned by  Elin Eklund and lives in Eskilstuna (just an hour drive from us)

Sille is from our first litter. She is a happy dog with much love to give. She kiss and hug everyone she runs into. She is doing fine on shows, has Lure Coursing license and is very fun of agility and blood track.
